Evolution
The series 449 benefits from the performances of series 453 (ISO 15552/6431) which have been previously developed by ASCO JOUCOMATIC NUMATICS: compactness, sturdiness and easy maintenance are three main advantages allowing the machine manufacturers to integrate these actuators for automation in a safe and easy way.

Range
Single acting, double acting, with single and through rod, with anti-rotation device, these cylinders are also available in a wider range of diameters, from 20 to 100 mm for strokes from 5 to 400 mm.
Compactness
Up to 65 % decrease in volume, with same diameter and stroke, compared to ISO 15552 cylinders.
A sturdy design for an economical use and easy maintenance.
The new range 449 has been designed to guarantee a service life of over 3000 km.
Main features:
- Anodized aluminium alloy design
- Ends plane surface with 4 threaded ports (independent of the support of the rear ends that are screwed on the tube) for having a bigger contact surface and decrease risks of mounting distortion.

End /tube mountings 
- Z seal technology leading to a low breakaway pressure (= 1 bar) and to a minimum force of friction.
- Centered magnet allowing a perfect symetrical detection
- Anti-rotation device: necessary for all industrial applications where linear precise guiding is required. Thanks to rods sliding on self lubricated metallic bearings, moving loads are smooth and risks of friction are minimized.
Complying with the ATEX 94/9/EC directive for zones 1-21, 2-22.
Flexibility
- According to diameters, there is a large choice of grooves on different sides of the profiled barrel with a place compatible with the CNOMO standard.

3 to 5 t-slot grooves and 1 to 4 dovetail groove allowing the mounting of different type of magnetic detectors with integrated mounting:

Steel MT4 male trunnion, with an ASCO JOUCOMATIC NUMATICS patent.
This new mouting fits in profile barrel grooves and is composed of profiled nuts ("T" shape or "T" + dovetail shape, black part of the drawing) and screw assembled axes (green part). It's compatible with the whole PEC range. A safety pin (red part) can be installed to reinforce this mounting and to avoid any sliding of the cylinder.
