ASCO Numatics is in itself a collaboration of four great names in the world of fluid power and automation; ASCO, the first company to develop and manufacture solenoid valves way back in 1910 is now the best known name in quality solenoid and process valves throughout the world, Joucomatic an outstanding European manufacturer of pneumatic equipment and leader in proportional control technology, Numatics a truly worldwide brand of state-of-the-art pneumatic control and automation equipment perhaps best known for the Numatics "Spool & Sleeve", the patented valve design which gives in excess of 200 million cycles and last but not least Sirai which started business in 1946 producing electromechanical valves and heating and air-conditioning components, now one of the world leading quality solenoid valve manufacturers.
Based in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, ASCO Numatics UK employs around 170 people and has an annual turnover in the region of £15 million. At this location ASCO Numatics manufacture around 1.5 million solenoid coils per year, which are exported throughout the group, all over the world. In addition the production/assembly of solenoid valves, process valves, pneumatic cylinders, valve manifold assemblies and complete control systems is done at this factory. The research and development section and engineering departments are responsible for some of the most sophisticated recent developments of technologies within the industry. In June 2006 further to the acquirement of Numatics Inc by Emerson, Numatics Ltd (UK) was moved to the factory in Skelmersdale to take advantage of the great facilities here. The UK sales operation is run from here with a team of 9 external sales people and 18 internal sales and marketing people. All this is backed up by very strong purchasing, logistics and financial departments. ASCO Numatics has excellent financial strength.
